Birnin Kebbi, Dec. 5, 2016 (NAN) The Kebbi State Government on Monday called on well-meaning individuals to contribute their quota to the maintenance of Birnin Kebbi Central Cemetery.
The Secretary of the committee, Malam Muhammadu Bello, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi.
Bello said the committee would appreciate all forms of donation toward the maintenance of the cemetery, adding: “we need bundles of shroud, wood and cash for payment of allowances of the cemetery guards.”
He added that the committee would soon clear the grass at the cemetery to identify broken graves for reconstruction.
He commended the state government and the former accountant general of the state, Alh. Arzika Danatto for the assistance rendered to the committee.
Bello stated that many graves have collapsed hence the need for regular maintenance of the cemetery.
NAN reports that the immediate past administration of Gov. Sa’idu Dakigari spent at least N13 million on the maintenance of the cemetery. (NAN)
