By Mohammad Tijjani
Kaduna, Nov. 1, 2017 (NAN) The Wife of Kaduna State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza el-Rufa’i, on Wednesday, said the state government would partner with Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) to fight drug abuse.
The governor’s wife said this when Mrs Maureen Abbe, the Chairperson of POWA, Kaduna State chapter, paid her a courtesy visit in Kaduna.
el-Rufa’i said “we must join hands to address the menace of drugs abuse because it is something that everyone in the society should be concerned about.”
She said that was why the Kaduna State Government created a new agency specifically tailored toward arresting the situation in the state.
She assured POWA that the state government would support it in the course of the task.
Earlier, the POWA chairperson said the association was formed to cater for the welfare of officers, whose duties were sometimes risky.
Abbe said “POWA also gives succor in terms of need to families of other rank officers in the force through skill acquisition, soft loans and others areas.
“I personally believe that the state’s chapter should stand as model for other states and this is a mission which I set to achieve by the special grace of God.” (NAN)
