Katsina State Govt. pledges continuous support to female entrepreneurship

Katsina, May 7, 2018 (NAN) Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State says the government will continue to support the involvement of women in entrepreneurship in order to enhance socio-economic activities in the state.

Masari stated this on Monday in Katsina, at the Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair, organised by the Katsina Inner Wheel Development Initiative (KIWDI).

Stressing the importance of entrepreneurship in improving life, the governor said that the trade fair would assist to boost women skill acquisition in trade and commerce.

The governor also emphasised the role being played by women in moulding the character of children.

He said that the role women played in child upbringing and their large population, made it imperative for government to pay special attention them.

Masari cited the role played by Khadijah, the first wife of Prophet Muhammad, in the development of trade and commerce, as recorded in the Qur’an.

He said there was the need for women to engage in trade and commercial enterprises to improve their living condition.

The governor further urged women to dialogue with their husbands so as to allow them participate in trades, commerce and governance.

Earlier, the President and founder of the initiative, Hajiya Amina Zayyana, said that the trade fair was organised for women in the state to showcase products of their enterprises.

The products displayed at the fair included tie and dye materials, beads, shoes, soap, edibles poultry products and materials for interior decoration, among others. (NAN)
