Katsina Govt. pledges continuous support to entrepreneurs

Katsina, March 6, 2018 (NAN) The Katsina State government has pledged to continue to empower entrepreneurs in order to reduce poverty and generate employment among unemployed persons in the state.

Gov. Aminu Masari made the promise on Tuesday in Katsina while distributing resettlement package to 255 best trainees of the Katsina Craft village.

He said that his administration believed that the empowerment of the entrepreneurs would also assist to prevent the youth from indulging in criminal activities.

‘’Since this administration came on board, it has so far trained over 4,733 youths with most of them empowered with packages as a start-up to their own businesses.

‘’We believe in empowering the youths and women entrepreneurs, because if you empower them you are building a nation.

‘’The purpose of government is to protect lives and property, and providing a means of sustainability and supporting of lives,’’ Masari said.

He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items given to them, pointing out that it would also assist them to become employers of labour.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the entrepreneurs were trained on tailoring, catering, computer repair, carpentry, welding and auto mechanic.

Others were pottery and wrought iron, beauty saloon and hair dressing, poultry, film production, dyeing and ectrical installations, among others.

The items distributed to the graduands included sewing machines, generating sets, computer sets, and dryers, among others.

A cross section of the beneficiaries who spoke at the occasion, commended the state government for the gesture and promised to use them for the purpose they were given.(NAN)
