Katsina Emirate Council suspends 4 village heads over forests encroachment

Katsina, May 2, 2017 (NAN) The Katsina Emirate Council, on Tuesday suspended four Village Heads for alleged encroachment into Rugu Forest.

The suspensin was announced in a  statement signed by Alhaji Bello Ifo, the Council’s Secretary on Tuesday in Katsina.

Those suspended were the Village Head of Illelah, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu, that of Muniya, Alhaji Hamisu Ahmad, and Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu of Guzurawa, all in Safana Local Government Area.

Also suspended suspended was  Alhaji Isah Madogara of that of Madogara in Batsari Local Government Area.

‘’The Katsina Emirate Council wishes to inform the public that it has suspended Village Heads of Illelah, Muniya, Guzurawa and Madogara from their titles.

‘’The suspension takes effect from May 2, 2017, for their alleged encroachment into Rugu Forest.

‘’They will remain suspended pending completion of investigation on the charge leveled against them,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forest was a famous grazing land that cut across Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kano, Niger States and entered into Niger Republic.(NAN)
