Dawakin Tofa (Kano State), March 22, 2017 (NAN) The Kano State Government on Wednesday said it spent N280 million to upgrade the Dawakin Tofa Comprehensive Health Centre to General Hospital.
The Commissioner for Information, Malam Mohammed Garba, made this known
while conducting some visiting journalists round the hospital in Dawakin Tofa town.
He said “the centre had 80 bed space but with the upgrading to the status of General Hospital, it now has 180 bed space.”
He added that the state government constructed 11 new blocks and rehabilitated the existing structures in the hospital to improve its standard to full fledged hospital and improve quality healthcare service delivery.
The commissioner explained that the state government had also procured equipment and other facilities which would be provided to the facility when completed.
“The state government procured the equipment and kept them in the medical store, pending the completion of the project,” he said.
According to him, the state government has created a number of units to take care of the increasing number of patients that will be patronising the facility to seek for medical treatment.
He pointed out that “the project is about to be completed, with the exception of the landscaping and some few things which are ongoing.
“Before now, patients have to be referred to Bichi General Hospital for medical attention, but with upgrading of the facility, it will now take care of that.” (NAN)
