Kano, Nov. 15,2017 (NAN) The Kano Geographic Information Systems (KANGIS) says it will register eight million property in the state through Systematic Land Titling Administration.
The Director General of KANGIS, Alhaji Umar Kura, disclosed this on Wednesday during 2017 World GIS Day celebration at eHealth Africa office in Kano.
“Our target is to register eight million properties in the state through (SLTA) and issue them with certificates,” he said.
Kura, who is also the Director, GIS operations in the state bureau for land Management, said that from 1967 to 2014 the state government had registered 150,000 property through manual approach.
He added that from 2014 to date through SLTR, KANGIS has registered 150,000 property in Kano metropolis.
The director pointed out that GIS technology would also aid decision making and increase revenue generation for the management of land related resources.
Kura said that KANGIS was established by former governor of the state, Engr Rabi’u Kwankwaso to primarily sanitize the land administration system in the state.
He said that their system had been upgraded for improved land administration service delivery, enhanced data security as well as to curb sharp practices.
Earlier, eHealth Africa’s GIS lead officer, Opeyemi Abdulmajeed said being an international day, the GIS day is celebrated to understand the progress made so far and discuss on way forward especially on how to strengthen the health system.
According to Abdulmajeed, an effective GIS with regards to health sector will create easy way of vaccine delivery for successful immunization at all areas.
“GIS is more than land administration, it encompasses almost all facets of our daily life, governance, health, security, agriculture and businesses,” he said.
Abdulmajeed added that without GIS things will be very difficult for ehealth Africa in the state.
He said that GIS would help them in tressing hard to reach settlements when there is outbreak or during immunization.
“With GIS technology our organization is better equipped to tackle any obstacles that the vaccination teams might come across,” he added.(NAN)
