Kano LG election: NOA urges electorate to be peaceful

Kano, Feb.8, 2018(NAN) The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has urged the electorate to be peaceful, while exercising their franchise in Saturday’s Kano State local government polls.
The State Director of NOA, Mallam Aliyu Muhammad made the call in a statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations’ Officer of the Agency, Mr Olayinka Olawore on Thursday in Kano.

Muhammad also advised the electorate to turn out en masse to take part in the election.
“It is a well known fact that peaceful, free, fair and credible elections are the backbone of sustainable democracy.
“Democracy must be clearly seen to be working in Kano State, moreover, at this moment in our national experience when our great nation is battling security challenges, the need for peaceful conduct at the poll cannot be over emphasised,” he said
Muhammad also urged all registered voters to demonstrate patriotism by coming out to perform their civic responsibility of electing their Chairmen and Councillors of their choice.
The Director also advised the electorates to abide by the guidelines laid down by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) for the poll.
He urged voters to shun all acts capable of breaching the peace in and around their polling units.
The Director advised them to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or movements to the security personnel around their polling centres for prompt action.
“Voting is an act of conscience; hence the Kano electorates are admonished to discountenance any attempt at inducement to cast their votes other than in line with their conscience.
“Your vote is your power and therefore it must not be used to empower anyone who does not satisfy your conscience as the right electoral candidate.
“Let us vote right and remain law abiding for the betterment of the state and the country in general,” he said.(NAN)
