Kano Govt to recruit 1,490 youths into state’s road traffic agency

Kano, April 11,2017 (NAN) ‎The Kano State Government said on Tuesday it would recruit additional 1, 490‎ youths into the State’s Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).

The Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, told newsmen in Kano at the end of the State Executive Council meeting that the recruitment would ensure effective traffic management across the state.‎

“We are working on that and very soon, we will boost the workforce and you will see more Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) officials on our roads,’’‎ he said.

Garba said the ‎government would ensure that roads and transportation in the state are safe, accessible and comfortable for the people.‎

‎On flood control measures, the commissioner said the state government had approved N41 million to control flood in Marmara, Sabonsara, Yanzu, Layin Takalma, Tumbururu, in  Gwale and municipal local governments areas.‎

‎Garba added that the Council also  approved N28 million for the relocation of some public utilities affected by the construction of roads in Kofar Ruwa and Bukavu Junction.

“About N123 million was approved for the construction of magistrate courts in some council areas including Kumbotso, Dala ,Shanono, Kabo and Rimin Gadam.”

According to the commissioner,  N281 million was approved for the purchase of irrigation equipment to boost irrigation farming in the state.

Garba said renovation and execution of some projects at Government Girls College,  Goron Dutse, would gulp N265 million, while N418 million would be spent to also renovate and build new structures at Government Girls College, Kachako.

“The council also approved the release of N89 million for school-based management committees for the improvement of 4,050 primary schools in the state,” he said.  (NAN)‎
