Ibadan, March 20, 2018 (NAN) A delegation of the Kaduna State Ministry of Health and Human Services on Tuesday commended the achievements recorded by the Oyo State Government in the health sector.
The delegation led by Dr Isaac Zanhai, the Chairman, Kaduna State House of Assembly Committee on Health, gave the commendation in Ibadan during their visit to understudy the state’s health insurance scheme.
Zanhai said that Kaduna State Government would template on the successes and challenges of the state health insurance scheme to facilitate its proposed Contributory Health Insurance Scheme.
He said that Oyo State Government, from their finding and interactions with the people of the state, had lived up to expectations in the provision of adequate healthcare system.
Zanhai urged the state government to remain committed in its vision of ensuring comprehensive health coverage for all.
Earlier, Dr Olusola Akande, the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the provision of quality healthcare services.
Akande said that the state government was poised at restoring confidence in the state primary healthcare system through its health insurance scheme to engender qualitative healthcare delivery for all.
“The state government has approved mandatory enrollment of all civil servants in the state on the health insurance scheme.
“This has resulted to wider coverage of the scheme, while sustainable healthcare delivery services in the state has become a reality in line with international best practices of universal health coverage,” he said.
Akande said that the scheme has over 25,000 people already enrolled, urging the delegation to intensify its advocacy, public enlightenment and sensitisation to guarantee the success of the scheme in their state.
He said that cross fertilisation of ideas across states would impact on national growth.
NAN reports that the delegation later paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Michael Adeyemo and Dr Azeez Adeduntan, the State Commissioner for Health respectively. (NAN)
