Jos electricity company trains surveyors on geographical information, network mapping

Jos, March 1, 2018(NAN)The Jos Electricity Distribution Company, (JEDC) on Thursday held a one-day training for Plateau surveyors on geographical information system and network mapping.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training held in Jos, was in collaboration with Triple Seventh Nigeria, a geo-science firm.

In a brief remark shortly before the training commenced, Mr Yusuf Nakande, Head, Planning and Network Expansion of JEDC, said that the training became necessary to give the surveyors an online data base of JEDC’s assets.

He said that the training was geared towards improving the networking and distribution of electricity.

“We expect the training to help our quest to reduce collection losses and also ensure that all supply points and customer premises are captured.

“The training will also lead to the improvement of meter installation, replacement and monitoring, which will improve quality of services and quick fault resolution.

“With the aid of Geographical Information System, variety of information will be better organised on a computer system linking the database to an output map,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Aliyu Yakubu, Managing Director, Triple Seventh Nigeria Limited, said that the training was geared towards improving the understanding and networking of electricity power distribution to ensure effective sharing.

He called on the participants to put in their best in the training in view of its long term benefits. (NAN)
