Enugu, Jan. 23, 2016 (NAN) The Joint Health Sector Union, (JOHESU) has called on government to establish pension guarantee companies to check flop in pension commission administration in the country.
The Chairman of JOHESU, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) branch, Enugu, Mr Gill Nwadike, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday.
Nwadike further said that the establishment of such companies would help the retirees to know that their pensions were guaranteed and boost their confidence in contributing to the scheme.
He called on the pension administrators to pay retirees their benefits regularly to reduce the hardship of the senior citizens in the society.
The chairman also stressed the need for regular payment of pension and gratuity to retired civil servants.
Nwadike said that any administrator who failed to pay retired workers their pension should be sanctioned by pencom in accordance to the rules guiding pencom scheme. (NAN)
