JOHESU strike : State, Local Government health workers yet join in Bauchi

Bauchi, May 10, 2018 (NAN) State and Local Government health workers in Bauchi state are yet to join the ongoing strike by their federal counterparts as directed by the national body of Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).

The body had directed that state and local government workers should join the industrial action by midnight Wednesday.

Ibrahim Maikudi, Chairman of JOHESU in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Bauchi that they needed time to notify and prepare their members to join the strike.

According to him, memo will have to be prepared and distributed to all the State and Local Government branches of JOHESU, and that such exercise requires time and resources.

He however said that they would join the strike as directed immediately the necessary arrangements had been concluded.

He explained that the state and local government health workers had agreed to join the strike to mount maximum pressure on government to meet their demands.

NAN reports that normal activities are continuing in all state and local government health institutions across the state. (NAN)
