Stealing

Lagos, June 4, 2018 (NAN) A 26-year-old unemployed man, Jamiu Adegbite, who allegedly burgled a room and stole mobile phones valued at N138,000 was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at 18, Catangodo St., Iju, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on May 22 at Ago Shasha St., Alakuko, a suburb of Lagos.
Ogu said that the accused and one other, now at large, burgled one Ayoola Ademuyiwa’s room and stole his mobile phones valued at N138, 000.
“The accused and his other accomplice also stole a cash sum of N22, 500.
“It was one of his neighbours who heard the movement of legs that alerted other neighbours and the accused was apprehended, while his accomplice escaped,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 308 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr J. A, Adegun, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegun adjourned the case until June 27, for mention. (NAN)
