Pumps
By Muhammad Nasir Bashir
Dutse, Feb. 3, 2017 (NAN) Sen. Abdullahi Abubukar (APC) representing Jigawa North-West Senatorial District, has distributed 85 water pumps to farmers in his constituency for use in irrigation farming.
Alhaji Munir Uba, Personal Assistant to the lawmaker, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Dutse that the gesture was part of the senator’s efforts to encourage food production at the grassroots.
He said such gesture would also make agriculture attractive and reduce migration from rural to urban areas.
According to him, the senator has also commenced the drilling of 277 hand pumps in the senatorial district to enhance access to safe drinking water.
Uba said the pumps would ease the difficulties experienced by people in sourcing for safe drinking water.
The aide therefore advised the people to protect the water facilities and other public property in their communities. (NAN)
