Jigawa LG sets up committee to verify contract of 39 hand pumps

Dutse, Oct. 30, 2016 (NAN) The Miga Local Government Council of Jigawa has inaugurated a seven-member Committee to verify a contract awarded to drill 39 hand pumps by Loyalty Construction Company.
The Information Officer in charge of the Local Government Area, Malam Abdullahi Yakubu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse.
Abdullahi said that the contract was awarded by immediate-past administration of the council.
He explained that the committee is also to find out wether the company completed project on water supply scheme with an overhead tank at Kofar Gabas ward of the council or otherwise.
“The committee is mainly to find out how 39 hand pumps were drilled by the company across 10 wards of the council.
“In addition, the committee will also verify the completion of water supply scheme with an overhead tank at Kofar Gabas Ward,” he said.
The spokesman said the committee has the Secretary of the council, Alhaji Umar Sa’idu as Chairman and Sectional Head of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) as Secretary.
Other members, he said are: HOD WASH, Director Planning, Councillor WASH and the council’s Information Officer.
According to him, the committee has two weeks to submit its report. (NAN)
