Dutse, Jan. 22, 2017 (NAN) The Jigawa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (JACCIMA) said it had commenced discussion with Czech Republic on the exportation of some agricultural commodities from the state.

Chairman of the chamber, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Dutse.

He said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed soon by the chamber and the country, after the chamber officials’ visit in February to Czech Republic for final discussions on the trade agreement.

Muhammad explained that under the MoU, Czech Republic would buy Sesame Seeds, Gum Arabic, Sweet Melon and Groundnut from the state.

“We received a delegation of the Ministers of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs, respectively, of the Czech Republic. They indicated interest in our gum arabic, sweet melon, sesame seed and groundnut.

“They selected Ondo, Niger and Jigawa states to do business with,” Muhammad said.

He told NAN that the chamber would also partner Czech Republic on techniques for processing such commodities.

“They will not only buy these commodities from us, but will also build our technical capacity to process them,” he said.

The chairman said that the State would process the commodities locally in order to generate employment and revenue for its teeming youths.

“We hope to be in the Czech Republic next month (February) to conclude discussions after which we will invite them to Jigawa to sign the MoU,” he stated. (NAN)
