Kafanchan (Kaduna) June 28, 2018 (NAN) Mr Danjuma Averik, Chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Kaduna State, on Thursday urged the area’s 12 Councillors to be fair and just to all in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Averik, while administering an oath office on the elected officials in Kafanchan, also tasked them to support efforts toward promoting peace, harmony and progress.

He emphasised the need to place public interest above personal considerations, urging them to make sacrifices so as to leave lasting legacies at the end of their three-year tenure.

“We must do everything to move forward; we must strive toward unity irrespective of political affiliation, tribal or religious differences.

“A key directive from the governor is for us to consolidate on peace building processes already in place. By God’s grace, we shall initiate measures to sustain peace so that development can thrive,” he said.

He urged residents of the local government to support efforts by government and security agencies toward ensuring peace, pointing out that no meaningful development was possible in a chaotic environment.

Averick said that his doors would remain open for advice and constructive criticisms, urging members of the public to feel free to offer suggestions through any member of the council.

Earlier, Alhaji Yusuf Muazu, former Sole Administrator of the local government, had thanked its staff and residents  for the support he enjoyed while if office.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that 10 of the Councillors belong to the PDP, while two were elected on the platform of the APC. (NAN)
