Yola, March 17, 2017 (NAN) The Police Command in Adamawa has directed commercial tricycle riders in the state to register and obtain union membership card to operate in the state.

A statement issued on Friday by the Spokesman of the command, SP Othman Abubakar, said the measure was taken in view of the prevailing security challenges in the state.

“Henceforth, tricycle (Keke-Napep) riders should ensure that they have authorised registration and other identification features by their union, such as inner bright light, code number both inside and outside the tricycle.

“Every tricycle rider must be registered and must obtain his membership ID card to testify that he belongs to a particular union,” Abubakar said.

The command threatened to clamp down on any operator that failed to comply with the directive.

“The command therefore, warns members of the tricycle riders to strictly adhere to this new development as the police will clamp down on any one who fails to comply,” the statement said. (NAN)
