Infantry school reviews curriculum in line with current realities, says Commandant

Kaduna, Sept 11.2017(NAN) The Nigeria Army School of Infantry (NASI) is reviewing its curriculum to standardise the training and development of personnel undergoing various leadership courses at the institution.

The Commandant, Brig Gen. Jamilu Sarham made the disclosure on Monday in Jaji during the inauguration of leadership courses for 305 commissioned and non commissioned officers.

He said that the review of the curriculum was also to reflect “our current realities,” adding that the British Military Assistant Team would also deliver lessons on critical thinking during the 13 weeks course.

“Let me assure you that NASI remains committed to upholding a high standard of discipline, regimentation and professionalism through quality training,” the commandant stressed.

He advised the students to take the training seriously, “as it has been carefully planned to climax into a final field training exercise in the Falgore forest area to be jointly conducted by NASI, Deport Nigeria Army and warrant Officers Academy.

“I must warn that acts of indiscipline will not be tolerated from you throughout the duration of your stay in Jaji Military Cantonment, he said.

“You are being groomed for leadership responsibilities at the various levels of tactical command, therefore you must prove yourselves to be above board.

“A high level of honesty, integrity, loyalty and dedication would be expected from you and nothing else,” Sarham said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 134 personnel would undertake Basic Infantry course, 88 for young Officers course, 27 for tactics infantry course, 39 for infantry Non Commission Officers and 19 for company commander course.(NAN)
