Immigration: Comptrollers from North-East region meet on security matters

Yola, Jan. 19, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Immigration Service  (NIS) comptrollers from  Zone `C’ comprising : Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Plateau states had been discussing how to improve border security in the North East in Yola.

Mr Abubakar Ahmad, the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of the zone told newsmen about the development on Thursday.

Ahmad who presided over the meeting said the measure was a regular one to find ways to contain security challenges along the nation’s porous borders in the region.

“We meet every two months to discuss security issues; we need to be on our toes to contain the challenges facing us from our vulnerable borders with the current insecurity in parts of the country.

“We need to device ways of ensuring effective discharge of our responsibilities of controlling the nations entry and exit points as well as monitor the activities of non- Nigerians in the hinterland,’’ Ahmad said.

Also, Mr Sule Wunti, the Comptroller in charge of Adamawa Command, said that all comptrollers were always presenting developments in their commands at the regional meetings.

Wunti said that others present would make inputs which would then be collated and forwarded to the headquarters for necessary actions.
