Ibadan, Jan. 25, 2017 (NAN) Amb. Adeniyi Adeyemi, the President-General, World Youth Organisation (WYO), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with notable international organisations to create 60 million job opportunities for youths globally.
Adeyemi said this in a statement by his media aide, Adeola Badru, in Ibadan on Wednesday.
He signed the MoU with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) during a visit to Geneva, Switzerland.
The team of international organisations was led by Mr. Guy Ryder, the Director- General, ILO
Adeyemi said that the 620 million unemployed youths statistics across the globe was alarming, noting that the issue was worrisome.
“I remain resolute and committed to the cause of youths globally. I am much committed to reduction of poverty, unemployment, social vices, sickness, disability or death arising in the course of employment.’’
The president-general appealed to world organisations to cooperate with him in the quest to eradicate poverty among youths across the world.
Ryder appreciated Adeyemi for his thoughtfulness in embarking on projects that would give face lift to the well being of youths globally.
He said the organisation would work in tandem with WYO toachieve the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) on youth empowerment.
Among other organisations on Ryder’s team were Bank for International Settlements (BIS), European Central Bank (ECB) and Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) (NAN)
