By Chiazo Ogbolu
Lagos, Feb. 22, 2018(NAN) A content marketer, Mr Daniel Afolayan, on Thursday said that ability to measure numbers was critical to an entrepreneur’s success.
Afolayan, the Co-organiser, Google Business Group, Lagos, made the assertion at a Google Business Group Lagos Meetup.
The event has the theme “GOALS: Define, Measure, Analyse, Using Google Analytics”.
Afolayan said, ”Efficient strategy can make a business grow, and in strategising, the ability to measure numbers should be paramount in the mind of the entreprenuer.’ ‘
He noted that the numbers had to do with data generated from the business.
According to him, Google Analytics is a tool for an entreprenuer to use to breakdown data for his business.
Afolayan advised entreprenuers to have SMART – specific, measurable, attainable reliable and time-based – goals.
According to the content marketer, entrepreneurs should understand their business environments, have business plans – short or long term – before setting goals.
He also said that entreprenuers should add value to products and services given to customers, and understand customers’ needs.
The content marketer said that measuring goals had to do with the entreprenuer’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI),
He described KPI as a quantifiable measurement used to focus attention on the metrics most important to meet business goals, adding that the metrics would be used in weighing the goals.
“He should check if the KPI is specific. Can it be measured? Can the target be attained? How relevant is the KPI to the wider business objectives? ” he said.
He said that to analyse, the entreprenuer should examine result got against the core business objectives, projecting where the business would be in a year or two.
He added that there would be the need to check if the result would meet up with the KPI.
“Analysing will help the entreprenuer to look out for the next point of action,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Google Business Group, Lagos, is specially designed for business leaders, entrepreneurs, web developers, startup founders and digital marketers.
The meetup is to aid small businesses in their journey to success. (NAN)
