Damaturu, June 24, 2017 (NAN) The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Gujba and Gulani and Yobe, have lauded Rep. Abdullahi Kukuwa, for the construction of 10 boreholes and classrooms to facilitate resettlement in the displaced communities.
The spokesman of IDPs, Alhaji Adamu Gulani, stated this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Saturday.
He said that the boreholes constructed by Kukuwa, representing Damaturu/Gulani/Gujba/Tarmuwa federal constituency, had complemented those built by the state government in the affected communities.
Adamu said that the existing water facilities in the communities were destroyed by the insurgents thereby creating water scarcity in the areas.
He said the state government and some non-governmental organisations had also constructed water facilities in the affected areas to boost water supply.
NAN reports that Kukuwa had on Thursday handed over the boreholes constructed at Shishiwaji, Ngurum, Bularafa, Nayinawa, Maisandari as well as three-bedroom estate, Sani Daura estate and Gujba to Yobe government for ownership and mangagement.
Kukuwa also handed over a block of three classrooms and toilets constructed at Katarko Primary School for the returnees IDPs children to continue with their education.
The legislator also distributed 500 bags of rice, 600 bags of maize and 3.000 cartons of spaghetti to IDPs in the four local government areas. (NAN)
