ICPC seek support to eradicate corrupt practices

Ibadan, Dec. 9, 2016(NAN) Mr Stephen Pimor, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Commissioner in charge of Oyo/Ogun Office, has enjoined Nigerians to support the anti-graft agency in eradicating corruption in the country.

Pimor made the call on Friday in Ibadan during a sensitisation campaign to mark the UN Anti-Corruption Day.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the World Day of Anti-Corruption is celebrated annually on Dec. 9.

Pimor noted the scourge of corruption had drawn the nation backward.

“We will try as much as possible to wipe out corruption with the support of all and sundry and in line with the Federal Government’s change agenda.

“Every citizen must be committed to the anti-corruption crusade to build the nation we all desire.”

He urged the people to assist the anti-graft agency with useful information of on corrupt practices, adding that the agency would ensure confidentiality of such information.

Also speaking, Dr Temitope Alonge, the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital (UCH), said that the fight against corruption was a battle every citizen must engage in.

“I decided to lead the team of UCH to the campaign because I believe corruption could be wiped out starting from our offices.

“Those of us in government should assist the anti-graft agencies in stamping out corruption from our offices and the country,” he said.

NAN reports that the campaign train, which took-off from the ICPC office in Bodija, also visited the Oyo State Government Secretariat to sensitise workers on the need to support a corrupt-free society.

The ICPC campaign train was received at the secretariat by Mr David Oyewole, the Permanent Secretary, Governor’s office, on behalf of Mr Soji Eniade, the Head of Service.(NAN)
