Lagos, March 23, 2017 (NAN) Joseph Eshua, the General Manager, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), on Thursday expressed the body’s commitment to ensuring a good outing for the country at the upcoming ICC-Africa Regional Division I qualifiers in April.
Eshua told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the competition holding from April 7 to April 17 in South Africa was crucial to the country’s return to the world division.
NAN reports that the country was demoted to the regional level due to the national team’s inability to advance to the ICC World division four in 2017.
NAN also reports that the country would have remained in the ICC World Division 5 but division five and six were scrapped by ICC.
“We have invited 22 players to camp in preparation for this competition; we have selected 14 players and also two standby players who are still in camp.
“The two coaches in charge of the players are doing everything possible to enhance their physical and mental alertness for the task ahead.
“I believe the players and the technical crew will do everything possible to fly the country’s flag high in the competition,’’ he told NAN on telephon.
Nigeria is expected to play against Ghana, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Botswana and Zambia. (NAN)
