Howzat Cricket Foundation restates commitment to cricket development

Lagos, April 12, 2017 (NAN) The Howzat Cricket Foundation on Wednesday said that its annual National Boys Super League has impacted positively on the image of the sport at the grassroots.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 21st edition of the competition would hold from April 13 to April 15 in Abuja.

Olisa Egwuatu, the foundation’s Coordinator told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the foundation, formed 21 years ago has produced players for the national team through its programmes.

Egwuatu said that adequate plans had been made to ensure a hitch-free competition for participants.

“This competition which is one of the oldest cricket competitions in the country is dedicated to the development of cricket.

“Winners of various secondary school leagues and competitions from the states will participate in the league.

“This year’s competition will be more competitive owing to the preparations put in by participating teams and we are also ready to host them,’’ he said.

He commended Philip Asiodu for his contribution to the growth of cricket by sponsoring the event.

Egwuatu, who is aslo the Technical Director of Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), said the foundation would continue to work with NCF and state associations to move the game forward.

NAN reports that the foundation is a non-profit sport organisation which promotes cricket at the grassroots. (NAN)
