Housekeeper in court over alleged stealing of N190, 000, cell phones

Lagos, Nov. 3, 2017(NAN) A 22- year -old housekeeper, Sunday Ogunjobi, who allegedly stole his employer’s cell phones and N190,000 cash, was on Friday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Ogunjobi, who resides at Yaba, Lagos, is being tried for stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, told the court that the offence was committed sometime in January at No.38, Dagbolu St., Ikorodu, Lagos.
Unah said that the defendant, who was working as a housekeeper in Mrs Ayo Afolabi ‘s house, went to her bedroom when no one was at home.
“The accused stole two mobile phones valued at N49,500 and a cash of N190,000, and ran away.
“Since then, all efforts to locate him failed, until he was sighted at Yaba by the complainant’s husband,” he said.
Unah said that the accused was apprehended with the help of passersby, and was handed over to the police.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Ogunjobi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Gbajumo, granted the accused N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Nov. 27 for mention. (NAN)
