Pension

Lagos, Feb. 8, 2017 (NAN) Mr Lanre Awoseyin, the President, Nigeria Hotel Association, has expressed the association’s readiness to sensitise hotel owners on the need to provide pension scheme for their workers.
Awoseyin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that the pension scheme, if introduced, would be of great value to the hotel owners and workers.
He said that such scheme would ginger workers in the sector to work with greater zeal and achieving maximum productivity, because when workers were not well remunerated, it affects their productivity.
Awoseyin said the hotel workers had been deprived of so many benefits, which the association was working greatly with the National Pension Commission and other bodies, to correct.
“The hotel workers had been deprived of pension scheme, gratuity, and health scheme and more in the past, as such, they don’t have any stake.
“ This is a problem we want to correct this year; the hotel owners cannot just be making the money without considering their welfare of their workers, who are toiling day and night,” he said.
Awoseyin said that the hotel owners would enjoy the loyalty and confidence of their staff, once they play their role.
“When things are put in place, the hoteliers will be more comfortable in business because the workers will also protect their interests and make everything easy,” he said.
Awoseyin said that the exercise would commence as soon as the association received approval from the National Pension Scheme.
According to him, the exercise has been done for the Northern states; so, the next one will be for the Eastern states alongside Kogi and Kwara.
“At the end of the exercise, I believe it will be a win-win situation for everyone,” he said.(NAN)
