Abuja, July 11, 2017 (NAN) IGP Flickers of Kaduna on Tuesday got their first win of the ongoing Hockey Super League in Abuja with a 2-0 win over Rivers Kings of Port Harcourt.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that IGP Flickers have lost all three of their earlier matches, before this Match Day Four fixture in the male competition of the league.

Theophilus Musa scored the first goal in the 34th minute of the game, while the second goal came through a short corner by Augustine Awasa in the 49th minute.

Sunday Danlami, the captain of IGP Flickers, said he was grateful to God for the win, adding that this was because most of his players were recovering from varous injuries.

“We lost three of our matches because most of our players were suffering from one injury or the other. We were just managing to play as a team.

“But I thank God that we were able to record a win today. We will put in our best to improve our play to ensure that we remain in the league,” he said.

On his part, Sunday Ogodogon, the coach of Rivers Kings, told NAN that the team would try to improve on their mistakes.

“Our loss today is because the players did not keep to instructions, they made a lot of mistakes which I intend to correct before our next match,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Rivers Kings have now lost three of their matches and drew one.(NAN)
