Malpractice
Pankshin (Plateau) April 5, 2017 (NAN) The accreditation granted the College of Health Technology, Pankshin in Plateau, to offer environment-related courses, has been withdrawn over a malpractice incident, according to its Provost, Pam Dangyang.
Dangyang told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday in Pankshin, that the accreditation was withdrawn by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He explained that the incident involved a male outsider, who sneaked into the school to write a paper for a female student.
“We have tried to regain the accreditation because that is our main course.
“My personal feeling is that it was a bit too hard to punish the entire school over the offense of one bad student,” he said.
He said that the school had always adopted stringent measures to check malpractice, which was why it even detected “that one incident”.
Dangyang described environment courses as “very crucial to every health institution”, and urged the NBTE to reconsider its stance and re-accredit the school of environment.
Other courses, whose accreditation was being awaited, he said, included pharmacy, nutrition and diametrics.
He warned students against malpractice and vices like truancy, cultism and violence, stating that anyone caught would be shown the way out.
The provost urged staff and students to work toward making the school a model, and advised people not ready to work hard, to leave.
The official said that management was working toward getting more structures, laboratories and other facilities, while more staff were being recruited to boost quality. (NAN)
