Abuja, Feb.16, 2017 (NAN) The Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN) says plans are on-going by the association to collaborate with certificate awarding institutions to train stakeholders in the industry.

Malam Aliyu Badaki, the President of HATMAN said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

“We are gearing toward effective collaboration with certificate awarding institutions like Institute of Tourism Practitioners for the sustainability of training in hospitality, travel and tourism.

“We will use that opportunity to have a robust conference this year; before the conference, we intend to organise trainings for stakeholders and target audience in the various geopolitical zones of the country.

“Even before now, we normally have trainings for stakeholders and others in conjunction with the National Institute for Hospitality.

“But we intend to collaborate more effectively in the provision of materials and support to those institutions,’’ Badaki said.

The HATMAN president also said that the association was planning to improve its intellectual capacity, with a view to enriching its bi-annual journal production.

Badaki expressed the hope that the government would support the bill it intended to send to the National Assembly this year.

“The bill is intended to establish a legislation that will ensure the adherence to professionalism in the hospitality and tourism industry in the country.’’ (NAN)
