Robbery

Lagos, Jan. 25, 2017(NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded an unemployed man, 27-year-old Ogechi Ifeanyi, in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, for allegedly robbing a pedestrian of N197,000 at gunpoint.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who gave the ruling, said the accused should be kept behind the bars pending when his plea would be taken.
A resident of Ojo area, a suburb of Lagos, is tried for conspiracy and robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 13 at Okokomaiko on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Inuoha said the accused and another man still at large intercepted the complainant, Mrs Francs Omoye, while returning from her shop.
“They pointed a locally made pistol at her and ordered her to bring all the money in her handbag.
“The accused and his accomplice collected N197,000 from the complainant, and asked her to run away,” he said.
“The complainant, who had marked their faces, sighted one of them and shouted for help which led to the arrest of the accused.”
The offences contravened Sections 296(1) and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
March 16 has been fixed for adjournment of the case. (NAN)
