Buni-Yadi (Yobe), May 20, 2017 (NAN) The chairman, Gujba Local Government Council in Yobe, Alhaji Kyari Batatama, has appealed for deployment of medical personnel to the area to facilitate the resettlement of returnee Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
He made the appeal on Saturday in Buni-Yadi at the commencement of the reconstruction of public structures in the area destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.
He said that immunisation of children had commenced in eight wards in the local council.
“We appeal to state governments and humanitarian agencies to post more medical personnel and doctors to provide medical services to the returnees,” he said.
The chairman expressed satisfaction that socio-economic activities had peaked up in the area and urged the returnees to engage in agricultural activities as the rainy season sets in.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Buni Yadi, headquarters of Gujba LGA was captured by the Boko Haram insurgents for almost a year before it was recaptured by the military in May 2015. (NAN)
