Warri (Delta), Feb. 27, 2017 (NAN) Mr Sheriff Mulade, National Coordinator, Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), has urged the people of Niger Delta to embrace peace to galvanise development in the state.
Mulade made the call on Monday while speaking with journalists in Odimodi, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta.
The Niger Delta activist specifically called on the Ijaws, Itsekiris and the Urhobos to shun ethnic bitterness and unite as one people.
“There can be no progress in a rancorous environment enveloped with ethnic crisis and war.
“The unfortunate Warri crisis is still affecting the economy of the city, the crisis scares away so many companies and today our people are jobless.
“We need to come together and do away with bitterness and work as a united people to attract investors back to Warri that is now looking like a ghost town,” he said.
Mulade, who is also the Chairman, Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area urged leaders to build bridges of unity.
“Our leaders must begin to tell the true stories and history devoid of politics to our younger generations, to avoid crisis that has been hindering our development and progress.” (NAN)
