Abuja, July 5, 2017 (NAN) The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) has advised executive and legislative arms of government to avoid disagreements and controversies in the interest of the country and citizens.

The group gave the advice in a statement by its Acting Chairman, Mr Austin Braimoh and Secretary, Mr Cassidy Madueke, on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to it, such disagreements and rancour can undermine the realisation of the “Change“ mantra of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It added that the harmonious working relationship between the two arms of government was the only factor that would create the enabling environment and momentum needed for APC to deliver on its campaign promise.

It said that the electoral mandate the APC secured in 2015 was a vote-of-confidence for its capacity to eschew the rancour that bedevilled past governments.

According to the group, such rancour led to grievous consequences on the peaceful and economic advancement of the country.

It said that a situation where principal officers of the National Assembly turned the executive and legislature relationship into a public show of combativeness and untoward contest for superiority was unacceptable.

This, the group said, was especially so because such frosty relationship would derail the process of realising the APC “change’’ mantra.

It pointed out that the outward show of hostility against the executive by a National Assembly, which was populated by majority of APC members, had continued to send confusing signals to majority of Nigerians.

It said that there was, therefore, a need for a new culture of harmonious relationship between the different arms of government.

It stated that it was critical to achieve new advances for Nigerians in all spheres of existence.

It called on officers of state in the executive and legislature to close ranks in the interest of the masses that daily looked up to them as change agents.

“The change mantra can only be achieved by consensus building and a deliberate commitment to sustain harmony across power demarcations.

“We reiterate that the present administration, either as seen from the executive or legislative prism, is one government made up of one party that is committed to deliver `change` to Nigerians,“ the group said.(NAN)
