Abuja, Aug. 9, 2017 (NAN) The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) says it has published three children books for distribution to pupils in primary schools and students in Junior Secondary levels across the country.

Malam Abdullahi Denja, President of ANA told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the books aimed at inculcating moral and cultural values in pupils and students.

He said that the published books would go a long way to enhance morals and cultural acceptance among children in the country.

The three books are; “The Golden Girl of Galma’’, by Kabiru Abdullahi, “Oma the Drummer Queen’’ by Salamatu Sule and “The Loyal Queen’’ by Chinyere Obi-Obasi.

Denja said that the publication was in readiness of the association’s campaign tagged: “A-Book-A-Child” to start in 2017.

“We have already released the three sets of books that reflect the cultural peculiarities of this country that are also sending positive messages to any child that will read it.

“We will collaborate with governments, agencies, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to buy the books in bulk and freely distributed to children in schools across the country.

“It is not a profit-oriented venture, but we need funds to make many copies and distribute them to children in primary schools and Junior Secondary Schools,

“These books are particularly written for children in mind from primary school to JSS III. We are going to rely on our state chapters all over the country to distribute them,’’ Denja said.

According to the ANA Prersident, the publication is the culmination of over the year process of competitive calls, shifting through manuscripts and arriving at a group of the series editors.

`Many thanks to Yusuf Ali (SAN), whose 2017 grant to ANA was used to finance the publication.

“With these books, ANA’s A-Book-A-Child nationwide project is set to run,’’ Denja said. (NAN)
