Enugu, Feb. 14, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has said that his administration still has huge challenges to be surmounted in spite of the modest achievements so far recorded.

Ugwuanyi spoke in Enugu on Tuesday after he received ‘The 2016 Man of the Year Award’ by Enugu Local Government News Magazine,

He said he was not unmindful of the huge expectations from the people.

He said that such little recognitions in respect of their resolve to develop the state would be a catalyst to do more for the people.

The governor said that he dedicated all that he had achieved within the short time in office to God and the good people of the state.

“Thank you for this award which goes a long way to complement our modest efforts in government and this reminds us that greater tasks lie ahead,” he said.

Ugwuanyi said that residents of the state deserved nothing but the best, adding that with God on his side he would not disappoint the confidence reposed on him.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of Enugu LG News Magazine, Rev. Fr. Emeka Ugwuoke, said that the award was in recognition of the sterling leadership style of the governor which had endeared him to many.

Ugwuoke said that the governor had through his leadership styles brought peace to the state without recourse to tantrums with his predecessors.

“Our board came together to identify the person who has made the most impact to residents of the state and we unanimously chose the governor.

“He is not someone who would whine in despair when faced with challenges and he has no chance picking quarrels with his predecessors,” he said.

The cleric said that the infrastructural development of the governor had been outstanding in spite of the limited resources within his disposal.

Ugwuoke said that the publication was conceived to breach the communication gap between residents of the state and those in governance.

“We noticed the gap between the people and those in governance and did not like it. So we decided to come up with a publication that will address the gaps,” he said.

The deputy chairman said that members of the editorial team of the publication were satisfied with the little impact they had made through the medium. (NAN)
