Education
Kano, Feb. 2, 2016(NAN) Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said on Thursday that education would continue to be his administration’s top priority.
Ganduje said this when the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa, Prof. Fatima Muktar, paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Kano.
He said his administration would continue to invest in quality education at all levels because it was paramount to the development of the state.
“My administration will continue to give priority attention to the education sector because it is the only way to secure the future of children and that of the country.
“Kano is the most populous state in the country and wherever you have large number of people including children, the first challenge is education.
“If your large population is not an educated one then that population is a liability, but if they are educated it becomes an asset,” he said.
Ganduje said that the state government would continue to support the university.
Prof. Muktar thanked the governor for supporting the institution in its development efforts.
She, however, appealed to the governor to build additional female hostel in the school as most of the female students were residing outside the campus, which said, was not safe. (NAN)
