Demsa (Adamawa), Feb. 22, 2017 (NAN) Government Day Secondary School, Demsa in Adamawa on Wednesday temporarily assumed the status of ‘seat of power’ as Gov. Muhammadu Bindow moved his entire cabinet to the school for the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had been rotating the venue of the weekly meeting among the local government areas as part of efforts to reach out to people at the grassroots.

Demsa Local Government Area was chosen to host this week’s meeting, with the Day Secondary School selected as the venue.

Speaking at the meeting, the governor acknowledged the challenges of the school and other schools, assuring that those challenges would be addressed with the declaration of  a “State of Emergency” on education by his administration.

Bindow re-iterated the commitment of his administration to bring government closer to the people at the grassroots.

“We have been going round local governments areas for our weekly Executive Council meetings to enable us reach out to people directly, to hear from them, and to give them the necessary sense of belonging.

“We are aware of the urgent need for a Dam in Demsa, which had been captured in this year’s budget,” Bindow said.

In her address, the Chairman of Demsa Local Government, Mrs Wale Fwa, commended the governor for reaching out to the grassroots, adding that the governor’s visit had raised new  hope  and optimism among  the rural people.

“We are happy to have you today in Demsa; we are full of hope that this visit will bring the needed change to our people,” Fwa said. (NAN)
