Golf: Kwasu leads THE NATION@57 after Day two

Abuja, Sept. 29, 2017 (NAN) Nigeria’s pro golfer Kenneth Kwasu on Friday shot to the top of the leader board at the end of the second round of the on-going THE NATION @57 tournament in Port Harcourt.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the four-day tournament to commemorate Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary is organised by the West Africa Golf Tour.
Graham Webster, the Tournament Director, West Africa Golf Tour, who confirmed the result to NAN on Friday, said Kwasu took the lead at the end of round two after he shot 72 gross to take a 2 shot lead.
“Kwasu is closely followed by compatriot Willy and Visitor Mapwanya, the Order of Merit leader.
“Zimbabwean Mapwaya shot course par, improving his score of 4 over in the first round, and tied with Willy in second position with a total score of 144.
“While Ghanian Kodjo Barni finished in fourth place with a total score of 145,” he said.
NAN reports that no fewer than 40 players from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal and Gabon are competing for a prize money of 30, 000 dollars in the fiesta.
The winner is expected to pocket a whopping sum of 4, 500 dollars as well as 4,500 points for the Order of Merit.
The West Africa Golf Tour continues to attract best players from all over Africa with new golfers from Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Senegal joining.
The tournament which teed off on Thursday is expected to end on Sunday, Oct. 1.
