Kano, July 17, 2017 (NAN) The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has called on intending pilgrims to attend the mandatory medical screening exercise currently going on before the expiration of the deadline.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the board had set aside one week for screening of all intending pilgrims to ascertain their health status.
Alhaji Nuhu Badamasi, the Public Relations Officer of the board, made the call in an interview with the NAN in Kano on Monday.
“We advise all intending pilgrims who have yet to attend the mandatory screening to do so within the stipulated period or face sanction,’’ he said.
Badamasi said all male intending pilgrims must attend the medical screening exercise and receive vaccination against yellow fever, Cerebral Spinal Meningitis (CSM) and polio at Sheik Jidda Hospital, Kano.
Similarly, he said all female intending pilgrims must also go for the pregnancy test at the Hajj camp along Airport Road that has commenced since July 10.
Badamasi said that intending female pilgrims who failed to do the screening would not perform the Hajj.
“The mandatory health screening and pregnancy test are in compliance with the NAHCON’s directive as any intending pilgrim that failed to comply with the directive will not be allowed to travel to the Holy land,’’ Badamasi said.
On payment of fare, he said the board was still collecting the balance of payment from the pilgrims.
“We are still collecting the balance from intending pilgrims who paid the deposit,” Badamasi said.
NAN reports that 6,607 intending pilgrims from Kano state would perform the 2017 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. (NAN)
