German soldier arrested on suspicion of planning terrorist attack

Berlin, April 27, 2017 (dpa/NAN) Authorities in the Bavarian town of Hammelburg have arrested a German soldier suspected of planning a terrorist attack, prosecutors and the Bundeswehr confirmed on Thursday.
The 28-year-old posed as a Syrian refugee in two locations in late 2015 and early 2016 respectively and planned to carry out an attack motivated by xenophobic sentiment, local media reported.
The man had been stationed a Bundeswehr soldier in the French town of Illkirch.
The prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt said that 90 police officers were searched in 16 locations in Germany, Austria and France in connection with the suspect. (dpa/NAN)
