Karaye (Kano State), Aug. 13, 2018 (NAN) Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has charged corps members posted to the state to acquire skills for self employment.
The Governor gave the advice during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch B Corps members orientation course held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Kusalla, Karaye Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
Ganduje, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Mohammad Garba, said the scheme over the years had provided a platform for Nigerian graduates to acquire and develop qualities of discipline, patriotism, loyalty and dedication in the national interest.
He urged then to make use of the training in the camp to become self-reliant and employers of labour, rather than job seekers at the end of the service year.
He said, “Kano state government sees every Nigerian citizen in the state as part of the people of the state, hence they should have no fear to interact with their various host communities.
“You should feel free to interact with your host communities or offer solutions to the challenges in your host communities,“ he said.
Ganduje advised the corps members to consider their posting as an opportunity to positions themselves for national growth and development.
In his remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Ladan Baba said the corps members have been prepared with unique and rich experiences in the areas of security consciousness, endurance and spirit of selfless service to the nation.
Baba noted that they were trained on various skills acquisition and entrepreneur development, which will continue with post camp training aimed at making them to become self-reliant and employers of labour, rather than job seekers at the end of the service year.
NAN reports that 2, 400 Corps members comprising 1, 159 males and 1, 241 females were deployed to the state for 2018 Batch B service year. (NAN)
