Yenagoa, May 31, 2018 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has called for improved synergy among the sister agencies in Bayelsa for efficient highway and security management across the state.
Mr Kingsley Agomoh, Assistant Corps Marshall, Zonal Commanding Office, Port Harcourt, made the call on Thursday during the corps’ 2018 second quarter workshop in Yenagoa.
“I urge the corps to continue to work towards achieving the vision of road safety and team up with others with a view to ensuring safety on our roads,” he said.
The workshop entitled, “Highway Security: Need for Synergy” was put together by the FRSC, Bayelsa Command.
Agomoh commended the Bayelsa command of the corps for organising the workshop, saying that it would enhance the operation of security agencies in the zone.
Also speaking, Brig-Gen. Kelvin Aligbe, the Commander of the 16 Brigade of the Nigeria Army in Bayelsa, commended the FRSC for its achievement in securing roads.
Aligbe, represented by Maj. Jonah Danjuma, said the army in the state would continue to partner with the FRSC on highway security.
Mr Ikechukwu Igwe, Bayelsa Sector Commander, FRSC, said the workshop was organised for the Immigration, NDLEA, police and NSCDC to discuss how best to work together to secure lives.
According to Igwe, there is the need for teamwork because the more the security personnel worked together, the better the society and roads would be secured.
He said collaboration was necessary in the efforts to tackle traffic challenges and secure lives and property not only in Bayelsa but across the nation’s highways.
Mr Boma Sparo-Jack, Special Adviser to Bayelsa Governor on Security, said the state would continue to support the FRSC efforts towards highway security.
Sparo-Jack said that the establishment of the state driving academy was to train motorists and ensure safe driving in the state. (NAN)
