Abuja, July 28, 2017 (NAN) Sen.Eze Ajoku, President, Coalition of Orphanages and Children’s Home in Nigeria, has called on the Federal Government to partner with the foundation in order to cater for the needs of the orphans.
Ajoku made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
He said that the foundation aimed at playing a supervisory role to support, monitor and regulate the operation of its members.
Ajoku also said the foundation was established to ensure and sustain the protection, care, training and empowerment of vulnerable children.
According to him, the foundation is also geared toward making government agencies, adoptees and operators of orphanage homes enforce the Child’s Rights Act.
Ajoku noted that it was important for government to support the cause of the foundation, stressing that child’s protection was imperative in achieving sustainable development goal agenda.
He urged government to be involved more in care of the vulnerable children saying that it would help to protect their rights in the orphanages and homes.
Ajoku decried the negligence of vulnerable children for effective protection of the rights of children in orphanages and homes.
He also noted that the partnership with government would help in reducing child abuse, rape and maltreatment from their adopted parents. (NAN)
