Kaduna, Sept. 16, 2016 (NAN) The Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) trained 55 journalists on ethics and professionalism when practicing or reporting, the Foundation’s Coordinator, Mrs Sekyen Dadik, said on Friday.

She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the training started in January 2016.

Dadik told NAN that 25 of the journalists were trained in zoonotic diseases reporting, 11 were educated on online journalism, 10 got trained in
investigative reporting, while nine were trained in fundamentals of journalism and news writing.

She said one of the missions of the AMDF was to ensure that journalists got adequate training in as many facets of life as possible.

“That is why we are out to provide professional support to journalists and media.

“And to boost the capacity of upcoming journalists, some of whom without journalism background but happened to be in the profession,
we have to give them the fundamentals of journalism and news writing.”

She noted that what was being expected from the participant of the training was to see professionalism in their reporting.

“Lets see them reporting from well informed position based on ethical standard,” Dadik said. (NAN)
