Eruwa(Oyo State), July 30, 2018 (NAN) No fewer than 90 students drawn from 10 secondary schools in Eruwa area of Oyo State have benefitted from the cash award scheme of the Dele Lawore Development Foundation (DLDF).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cash awards were given to the students on Monday in Eruwa at the inaugural lecture of DLDF.
The Chairman of DLDF, Mr Dele Lawore, said the foundation was established to help young people and the indigent, particularly in Ibarapa community.
“The four cardinal objectives of the foundation include giving assistance to young people pursuing an educational career, youth empowerment and social welfare as well as providing community development programmes,” he said.
Lawore called on youths to show more commitment to educational pursuits.
He promised that the DLDF would continue be more committed to its objective of giving back to the society.
The Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, commended Lawore for the initiative, appealing to other indigenes to emulate him.
The monarch urged others to also embrace the act of providing assistance to youths and indigents persons.
Retired Col. Abiola Olayiwola in his lecture entitled, ‘Youth and Social Vices: Causes, Consequences and Prevention, ’ appealed to youths to avoid substance abuse as well as risky sexual behaviour.
Olayiwola urged them to remain focused and make right choices toward achieving success in life.
Hon. Johnson Oladele, the Chairman of the occasion, advised youths to shun all forms of social vices.
A beneficiary of the DLDF cash award, Eniola Olagoke, thanked the foundation for its generosity.
Olagoke, a student of Baptist Model High School, Eruwa, described the award as one which would further motivate him in his educational pursuits.(NAN)
