Matazu (Katsina State), Feb. 12, 2018 (NAN) A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), UKASHATU Foundation, has empowered 400 widows and orphans in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Dr Hamza Ukashatu, said on Monday in Matazu during the distribution of packages to the beneficiaries that the gesture was to improve the living conditions of the less privileged in the society.
“The beneficiaries were selected from the 10 wards in the area and each of them received N10, 000 to start a small- scale business to enable them look after their children.
“The foundation secured admissions for some less privileged orphans in some institutions of higher learning across the nation.
“The foundation will sponsor free medical services of 500 less privileged patients in the area,’’ he said.
Hamza said that the patients were those suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, eye problems, and other health problems.
He reassured the public that the foundation was determined to continue to uplift the wellbeing of the people through more humanitarian activities.
Two of the beneficiaries, Bilki Muazu and Binta Yahaya, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to the foundation for coming to their aid.
They also pledged to make the judicious use of the funds given to them. (NAN)
