Dutse, Nov. 1, 2017 (NAN) The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will establish stakeholders’ forum  to bridge the communication gap between the command  and Private Guard Companies (PGCs) .

The Command’s Spokesman, DSC Adamu Shehu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday.

Shehu said the idea of establishing the forum  was part of the outcome of  a meeting held between the corps and PGCs in the state recently.

“A stakeholders meeting of Private Guards Companies (PGCs) was hosted at the state headquarters of the corps. The meeting was in compliance with section 3, subsection (i) of NSCDC Act 2007 as amended.

“The act gives the corps the mandate to periodically organise meetings, workshops and training for the PGCs in order to enhance their performance and instill public confidence in them,” he said.

He said that several important issues where raised during the meeting which included problems affecting  the operations of PGCs in the states, noncompliance with ethical standards and renewal of operational licenses.

“Another issue discussed was the need to form a strong stakeholders forum aimed at bridging  the communication gap between the PGCs and the Corps,” he said.

The spokesman urged all PGCs operating in the state to comply with the entire operational guidelines governing their establishment, including regular training of their staff by the corps. (NAN)
